Recyle your Christmas Tree

Warwick District Council will be collecting real Christmas trees from 9 to 21 January 2025, and you don’t need to have a garden waste permit subscription to have yours collected.  Please ensure that all lights and decorations have been removed from the tree.  Any tree that is over 5ft tall must be cut in half. Leave your tree outside in a place that’s not obstructing the highway and it will be collected.
If you’re subscribed to the garden waste service, you can chop it up and put it in your bin.

Please book in your donation

Due to a huge increase in donations and limited storage space, we are currently having to restrict what items we can take in.   Please book in your donation or call us to see whether we are currently accepting all our usual items.

*From January 2025, we are no longer able to accept Christmas decorations as donations. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause*

We are only able to take prams, pushchairs, cots, cribs and bouncers if they have the relevant safety and fire labels.  Please click Donations button below for further details.
Work For Us

We have a vacancy for a Shop Manager at the Re-Useful Centre which will  soon be extending hours to open 7 days a week.    Please see the Work for Us page for more details

Gardening volunteers
We are soon to be starting a new project of 'guerilla gardening' supported by Warwick District Council to bring some joy to unloved sites around the area.     We would welcome volunteers with a bit of gardening knowledge to help the General Manager in leading this initiative.
Please see our Volunteering page on how to apply

We are also looking for shop volunteers, particularly in the following areas:
Clothes sorting, Till work and Electrical PAT testing.

Volunteering

We are always looking for volunteers.   Whether you want to be involved with donation sorting, till work, electrical PAT testing or bike repairs, there is something for everyone in our community.  There is also a new guerrilla gardening project that you could be involved with.

Please see our Volunteering page for more details

About Action 21

Action 21 is a local volunteer-based charity that aims to reduce the environmental impact of the Leamington and Warwick communities and raise awareness of the climate crisis and the benefits of sustainable living.

Re-Useful Centre

Action 21’s Re-Useful Centre saves over 100 tonnes of donated items from landfill each year by selling second hand bikes, bric-a-brac & kitchenware, tools, clothes, shoes & accessories, books, CDs & DVDs, small electrical items and small items of furniture

Volunteering

Our volunteers are key to Action 21’s continuing success. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and develop new skills. So, why not join the team?

Sherbourne Recycling Centre, Coventry

Louise (General Manager) and Nikki (volunteer) had a tour around a new centre which is now processing all our kerbside recycling.

Sherbourne Recycling Ltd is an innovative joint partnership of eight local authorities in Warwickshire and the West Midlands to process dry mixed residential kerbside recycling in the most sustainable and efficient way possible.

Sustainability values:
  • Nothing is sent overseas. Once sorted, the materials are redistributed to UK companies to be processed for re-use.
  • 100% of the energy used is renewable, coming from photovoltaic cells and the neighbouring Energy from Waste (EfW) plant.

Action 21 and Climate Change – Debunking Some Myths: Part 4
Tuesday, March 15, 2022
This is the final part (4) in a series of blogs for Action 21.  Part 1 was about how Covid had made Action 21 think about its role within the community. Part 2 is the story of Action 21 and its link to Agenda 21, the 1992 Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit goals on environmental protection and sustainability. Part 3, outlines how people discount uncomfortable truths and how this can relate to climate science denial. This final part looks at the second two levels of discounting where we know there’s a problem but we feel unable to do anything.
