National Volunteers' Week
The General Manager and Board of Trustees would like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers for their continuing support and dedication. Without their help we simply could not offer the breadth of support to the residents of Leamington and Warwick district or our Partner agencies.
Volunteers Week, celebrated this year between 3rd and 9th June, is a week in which the UK celebrates volunteers and says thank you to them for the contribution that they make. The week also raises awareness about the benefits of becoming a volunteer and the diverse volunteering roles that are available.

Action 21 Craft Club closing at end of June
In 2018 we opened our Craft Club to serve the residents of Warwick District and during this time, the club has built up a loyal following thanks to the talents of Beth (Craft Club Leader) and her volunteer helpers. The club has even won several awards - most recently 2023 All Saints Parish Church Christmas tree award.
Over the last 7 years, Action 21 has primarily funded the Craft Club however with increasing business costs for the organisation as a whole, we have been compelled to examine all aspects of the organisation. As such we have had to take the sad decision to close the club at the end of June until future funding can be sourced. Please be assured that we even looked at passing on some costs to the participants but we deemed this would have been cost prohibitive as the cost per session would have been in excess of £12 per participant.
On behalf of Beth's colleagues and the trustees, I would like to thank Beth and the volunteers for their hard work and dedication.

This is the final part (4) in a series of blogs for Action 21. Part 1 was about how Covid had made Action 21 think about its role within the community. Part 2 is the story of Action 21 and its link to Agenda 21, the 1992 Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit goals on environmental protection and sustainability. Part 3, outlines how people discount uncomfortable truths and how this can relate to climate science denial. This final part looks at the second two levels of discounting where we know there’s a problem but we feel unable to do anything.
