Action 21 is looking for a skilled photographer to build up a library of high-quality photographs of our projects and the local area, to be used in our publicity material. We want someone who can capture the excitement of our activities in brilliant pictures.

Principal Function of Volunteer

The role will involve coming along to our events and documenting them in a creative way. You’ll take lots of pictures for us on a regular basis.

Tasks and Activities

As a volunteer you will carry out some or all of the following activities, depending on your individual capabilities and preferences. This list is only a guide to the types of activities that may be required.

  • Take photographs at the following types of events/activities
  • School eco days
  • Dr Bike sessions (where our bike mechanics perform free bike MOTs)
  • Community allotment days
  • Official launches of buildings, projects etc
  • Press release stories
  • You could also be involved in sorting through & prioritising our archives of photos (if you enjoy doing that sort of thing!)

We can provide you with an excellent opportunity to build up your portfolio with a huge range of subjects, from scenic landscapes and portraits to action shots and community images. You’ll be directly supporting our publicity and helping us to show the local community what Action21 does.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience sought

You’ll have experience of producing high-quality photographs on a wide range of subjects
No formal qualifications are necessary.

Minimum age: 16 years

Time commitment required

½ - 1 day a week, depending on events.

Training, Reviews & Support

General

  • Registration session with Amy, Volunteer Programme Manager to provide an overview of Action 21 and what volunteering on our projects involves.  Also gives you a chance to ask any questions you may have.
  • Project Induction with Eleanor Perkins (general assistant)
  • End of probation review session (after 4 weeks or sessions of volunteering; with Amy and/or project manager as appropriate)
  • 6 monthly review sessions

Expenses

You can claim back reasonable expenses for travel.  How you go about claiming back these costs will be explained in more detail during your induction.  If you have the time to volunteer for a full day we’ll even give you a free lunch!

Dress Code

Smart casual wear whilst working in Riverside House.

Location

You’ll have access to a desk at our Riverside House premises if you need it, but most of the time you’ll be out and about with our theme groups, staff and volunteers, or working from home.
