Project leader - re-use crafts


Project Overview
Action 21 run a programme of sustainability-themed craft activities and workshops for the local community. Through teaching traditional skills that may also be applied to re-used materials, we hope to encourage and facilitate less reliance upon mass-produced goods.

As a Workshop Leader, you would plan and deliver one or more Skill Share workshops for groups composed either of the general public or specific sections of the community such as single mums, unemployed people, senior citizens or families. We can support you in developing your ideas and planning the session/s you will lead. We’ll also promote your sessions as part of our wider Skill Share programme.

Skills/previous experience sought
Competence in a skill such as:

  • Knitting
  • Crochet
  • Basic sewing
  • Dressmaking
  • Cushion making
  • Furniture upcycling
  • Basic woodwork
  • Tool sharpening
  • Basketry
  • Rag rugging
  • Ability to teach others that skill
  • Good communication and planning skills
  • Preferably experience of working in or leading a group.

Person specification
You will need to be:

  • A patient and caring person
  • Someone who enjoys working with others
  • Capable, personable and confident.
