Pop-bottles wanted for Greenhouse at Re-Useful Centre!
NEWS RELEASE
13th January 2010
Angela Smith (Volunteer)
A group of volunteer gardeners are calling for 2 litre round plastic bottles to help create a bottle greenhouse at Action 21’s Re-Useful Centre, Ramsey Road, Sydenham. The greenhouse will need around 1500 bottles which should be washed with the labels removed. The bottles can be deposited in a special bin at the Ramsey Road Centre.
The bottle greenhouse will form an important part of the ‘Really Useful’ garden, turning gravel into greenery. This demonstration garden will show visitors to the Re-Useful Centre the possibilities of growing plants and vegetables regardless of space, budget or experience.
Plastic bottles will form the largest part of the structure with a frame to be created from recycled timber. The greenhouse will work just like an ordinary glass greenhouse but at limited cost with no requirement for new materials.
The Re-Useful Centre is Action 21's second re-use shop in Leamington and was first opened to the public in May 2009. The Centre is open 10am - 4pm, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday diverting tonnes of quality goods from landfill by providing a facility for the donation and resale of goods.
