Newsletter & Poster Designer
Project Overview
Action 21 distributes the newsletter ‘Transaction’ on a quarterly basis to all of our paying members. Sometimes we need to send out a poster or leaflet recruiting volunteers for a particular event or to tell local residents about an upcoming project.
Volunteer tasks
• Receive the content of the newsletter/ poster and design the layout.
• Use headings, photographs, illustrations and graphics as appropriate to make the newsletter/ poster reader friendly and attractive.
• Use word, PDF or other design software to create a master copy ready to be printed and emailed out to subscribers.
Skills/previous experience sought
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft office
• Ability to work independently and use initiative
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Experience of designing newsletters or posters is desirable but not essential

• Expenses: We believe that volunteers should not be out of pocket for donating their time and effort and so we pay back all volunteers’ reasonable travel expenses & there’s tea, coffee & biscuits on tap.
• On the job training and support is provided, including review sessions to check you’re enjoying your volunteering placement and that your needs are being met. (nb. For bike/PAT note specific training)
• You’ll be part of the wider network of Action 21 volunteers, receiving regular updates and information on our projects and invites to our well attended volunteer socials
• Excellent work excellent opportunity for anyone with a desire to gain experience of design and master newsletter production.
Times needed:
Probably between 1 and 6 hours per week but will depend on which of the newsletters you’d like to help out with and what tasks you’d like to take on.
