Spring Green Eco Fair 2008
4 April 2008
Environmentally friendly products and services are more widespread and popular than ever before. It was estimated that back in 2005 the ethical market in the UK was worth nearly £30 billion, and it is seems certain that this figure will have significantly increased since then.
Leamington Spa has a wide variety of forward-thinking businesses and organisations that offer ethical and green products and services to the public, and many will be showcasing their work at an 'Eco Fair' on Saturday April 12th. The event is hosted by GreenFinder, a local green pages website and online resource, which lists a huge range of green and ethical alternatives to all manner of consumer items and services.
Leamington Spa's Spring Green Eco Fair aims to bring the expertise of GreenFinder into a physical and interactive event where everyone, whatever their age, can learn about environmental issues, meet like-minded people or just come to seek out some great eco friendly gifts and gadgets.
After the success of the first 'Christmas Eco Fair' in 2007, the Spring Green Eco Fair looks set to be bigger and better than ever. Along with eco-friendly, organic and fair trade stalls there will also be information points where the public can seek advice about energy saving, recycling and reducing their carbon footprint.
There will be locally grown food on offer, as well as face painting and variety of fun educational activities for children. There will even be the opportunity to experience a variety of natural beauty treatments!
GreenFinder’s founder, event organiser and member of Action 21 Kate Haines, is keen that the event is interactive and fun for all visitors. She said, “There are still quite a few myths out there about green and sustainable living and I’m keen to dispel them. I’m hoping we will attract people to the event who are just beginning to take an interest in green living and are taking their first faltering steps towards a green lifestyle, as well as the fully-fledged environmentalists wishing to learn more about the eco projects and environmental organisations in the area”.
If you missed out on Leamington’s first Eco Fair then here's your chance to experience the second and find out what it has to offer!
The Spring Green Eco Fair will take place on Saturday, April 12th at the Dale Street Methodist Church, Leamington Spa from 11 am-3 pm
