Vol role - Blog writer


Project Overview
Action 21’s blog is intended to be a useful source of sustainability-themed information and Action 21 news. A team of writers – some who even live abroad! – contribute articles on a variety of different themes. We’re currently looking for someone to contribute to the Sustainability in the Home and Action 21 News sections.


Volunteer tasks

  • Research and write posts to fit the chosen section
  • Submit articles for editing according to a planned schedule.


Skills/previous experience sought

  • Very good level of literacy
  • Experience of researching and writing up information
  • Good computer skills
  • Able to use own initiative, work independently and meet deadlines.


Minimum age: 18


Benefits of volunteering:

  • Excellent work experience, especially for people pursuing a career in journalism, marketing/comms, community/charity work or the environmental field. You will be able to develop research and writing skills, and build up a portfolio of published articles.
  • Expenses: We believe that volunteers should not be out of pocket for donating their time and effort and so we make a contribution to volunteers’ travel expenses. There’s also tea, coffee, soup and biscuits on tap
  • On the job training and support is provided, including review sessions to check you’re enjoying your volunteering placement and that your needs are being met
  • You’ll be part of the wider network of Action 21 volunteers, receiving regular updates and information on our projects and invites to our well attended volunteer socials.


Times needed:

  • Sustainability in the Home blog section: a minimum of one post a month is required.
  • Action 21 News blog section: a minimum of one blog post a  fortnight is required.
  • The ability to commit to a minimum of three months in the role is necessary.
