The Recycle Warehouse building is currently undergoing repairs. We are continuing to operate on a slightly limited basis using shipping containers to store and display goods but we are open. This means that we may not able to accept all the donations that we are offered.  Please also note that we are now open 7 days a week!

Thursday 31 January 2008 - Green Champions Training

After successfully completing a training course, Green Champions will have the skills, knowledge and confidence to communicate effectively about sustainability issues and what people can do locally to live their lives more sustainably.  Green Champions will then attend a wide range of events to engage with people about sustainability and help people take positive action.  For more information about this opportunity, please see the Green Champions webpage as well as the Green Champion Role Description

FEBRUARY

Friday 1 February 2008 - PA (Portable Appliance) Testing Course

Donated electrical items are tested for resale at the Recycle Warehouse by a team of PA Testers.  If you are interested in learning to test electricals and being involved in the PA Testing at the Recycle Warehouse, do get in touch to find out more.  Contact Michelle, email Michelle or telephone 01926 456076.  Please also see the Role Description for more details about what is involved.  

Saturday 2 February 2008 - Renewable Energy Club Meeting

10am for 10.15am - 12.15pm, Jug and Juster, Bath Street, Leamington. Whether you have experience of renewable energy that you want to share or have no previous knowledge but a desire to take action, take part by emailing Derrick Knight at renew@action21.co.uk or telephone Michelle on 01926 456076.   

Wednesday 13th Feb 2008 - Free Film Showing.  'Power of Community - how Cuba survived Peak Oil'

Brunswick Healthy Living Centre, Shrubland Street, Leamington Spa.  7.30pm.  A documentary film about how one country has adapted to a crisis in the supply of fossil fuels.  This is part of the proposal for Leamington to become a Transition Town.  More information about Transition Towns at www.transitiontowns.org  Film being shown on Monday 18th Feb and Tuesday 19th Feb at other local venues - please see below.

Thursday 14 February 2008 - 'It's a Wrap' - Food Event

11am - 2pm, Lillington Youth Centre.  People will be making flat breads and there will be a variety of fillings for people to choose from.  Volunteers required to help out, anytime between 9am and 3pm.  Please see our one-off volunteering opportunities page for more information.

Thursday 20 March 2008 — Introduction to renewable energy training session

7.30pm, Bath Place Community Venture, Bath Place, Leamington.  If interested, please contact Michelle.  Email: michelle@action21.co.uk , Tel: 01926 456076.  A 60 minute presentation followed by questions and answers by Bernard Perkins of Action 21's Energy Group.
A presentation on renewable energy set in the context of the need to move to a low carbon britain (and world). The presentation will cover: the twin challenges of climate change and fossil fuel depletion; the solution,  a low carbon world and strategies for the transition to a low carbon economy; the need to reduce first then replace with renewable energy; what is renewable energy ; a summary of renewable energy technologies; renewable energy use in the UK and Warwickshire at the moment; where to find out more and what you can do .

Saturday 12 April 2008 — Green Fair

11am - 3pm, Dale Street Methodist Church, Leamington Spa. 

Visitors will be able to access a wide range of information about green living with both local green businesses and environmental groups exhibiting at the show. Along with eco friendly, organic and fair trade stalls there will also be information points where the public can seek advice about energy saving, recycling and reducing their carbon footprint.
