Following on from the founding of the local recycling group in the past year the group has become established and is working towards influencing the council on this important issue (in coordination with Action 21). Key issues include the reduction of the amount of plastic ending up in landfill and kerbside separation of household rubbish. It is important to hold the council to the re-cycling targets they have been set by the government.
Come along to out monthly meetings and get involved.
Current projects include:
- development of information packs for schools on recycling that will allow Action 21 volunteers to do school assemblies on recycling and provide follow up info for teachers and pupils.
- running a stall at the Leamington Peace Festival and organising litter picking and recycling for that event.
- helping the council to survey attitudes to recycling in Warwick and Leamington to evaluate planned household waste recycling schemes within our area.
- promotion of plastic and cardboard recycling in Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth.
- exploring the practicalities of waste reduction.
