Waste
Action 21 Recycling Group
The Recycling Group aiming to minimise the environmental impact of waste by direct engagement with the waste producers - all of us. Action 21 has volunteer theme groups who organise and run their own projects to promote sustainability in the areas of food, energy, transport and waste. Theme groups also have an input to the larger scale activities that Action 21 pursues and each group is represented on the Board of Directors. New members are welcome to take part in developing and planning their own practical projects relating to waste.

Community Freebay
Community Freebay is a website run by Action 21 which allows people to give away and receive unwanted goods which would otherwise have been thrown away. This site is for people in Coventry and Warwickshire. The site currently saves nearly 100 tonnes of quality items per year from landfill sites. And it has put smiles on a lot of faces either by helping people clear out their garages and lofts, or helping others find something they really wanted. Have a look for yourself at www.communityfreebay.co.uk
The Freecycle Network
The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,111 groups with 3,822,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free. www.freecycle.org
This website is similar to the local equivalent, Community Freebay.

Home woodchipping service
Warwickshire County Council recognise that green garden waste is a useful resource for gardeners and have sought Government funding for a wood chipping service. There are sound environmental reasons for keeping your chipped, green waste and using it in the garden. Landfilling garden waste contributes to the creation of methane gas which is a potent greenhouse gas thought to contribute to climate change. Also by using your very own chippings as a mulch you will reduce the need to buy chemical weed controls for the garden.
Available to book on 01926 738827 between 9.00am - 12.15pm (answer phone outside these hours).
Junk mail
Please see ‘Warwickshire County Council - Waste Minimisation’.
Litter
